Antonio Foler

Antonio de' Ferrari, named Foler, was born in Venice in 1536c. He was affiliated in the local "Arte dei depentori" since 1590 to 1612. He died in 1616.
Not much has remained of his paintings: some altar-pieces in the Venetian churches of S. Caterina and of S. Stefano, a decoration in the Sala della Quarantia Civil Nuova of Ducal Palace, as well as frescoes in villa Barbarigo at Noventa Vicentina.
Minor artist, Antonio Foler neverthless operated with a certain freedom in the sphere of late Mannerism's figurative culture and his paintings, also if sometimes devoid of refinement, are rich in expressive strenght.
